NORTON COMMUNITY HOSPITAL
HEALTHPLEX EXPANSION + AMBULATORY HEALING GARDEN
Nature has proven healing qualities, be it fresh air, soothing sounds, visual stimulation or physical exercise. Thus, healthcare facilities that intentionally incorporate these healing qualities in the design of their campuses see higher and quicker recovery rates for their patients than those facilities that do not.
From campus master plans to rooftop healing gardens, landscape architects can guide and direct the healing environment of healthcare facilities in a range of ways.
NORTON COMMUNITY HOSPITAL | Norton, Virginia
Campus master plan and courtyard ambulatory healing garden. Native plants dominate the plant palette and were chosen for seasonal interest and sustainability. The courtyard ambulatory healing garden incorporates different plant textures surrounding various walking implements to help patients recover strength and range of motion. (Project Cost: $250,000)
