Barrington Landscape Architecture, PLLC  was founded with the purpose of providing professional landscape architectural services primarily to the Mountain Empire of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.  Nathaniel B. Brown, a Southwest Virginia native and 2006 graduate of Virginia Tech's College of Architecture + Urban Studies, founded the practice with hopes the region will embrace the value of a landscape architect in guiding public and private design projects. 

Nathan's experience in the field began in Charlottesville, Virginia where he worked as a lead project designer for many different types of projects ranging from private residences and estates in the southeastern United States to institutional and civic work for the University of Virginia and City of Charlottesville. In 2011, he returned to Southwest Virginia to practice landscape architecture in the mountains of Virginia and East Tennessee. Extensive travel in Europe and the United States has broadened his view of landscape ecology, culture and history, which blend together to inform and enrich his designs. His work strives to reveal a landscape archetype, be it urban, rural, agricultural or otherwise. Since returning to Southwest Virginia, Nathan has led the design and implementation of several innovative stormwater management projects, the restoration of an iconic historical residence, numerous healthcare healing environments, educational landscapes at two local high schools and a landscape enhancement master plan for his home town of Lebanon, VA.

In 2013, his life’s focus shifted from landscape architecture to the pastoral ministry and he became the Pastor of the church where he grew up, Spring City Baptist Church in Cleveland, Virginia. God has blessed him with a beautiful wife and two adorable daughters. They enjoy the ministry, anything outdoors (fly fishing, hiking, golf) and s’mores!

Nathan is licensed in both Virginia and Tennessee.
